Parent Support Advisor - Jo Williams
My name is Jo Williams and I am your PSA and Mentor here at Elburton Primary School and I can offer advice and support to all parents/carers on any aspect of their life. I also work with the children to support their pastoral care.
Being a parent is not a walk in the park, at times we can all feel overworked, out of control and overwhelmed! As children grow and families change, boundaries are stretched. At times it can be very challenging.
The service I provide is impartial, non judgemental and confidential, and can include advice on finances, behaviour, health, careers, school issues, changing families, bereavement, Sibling rivalry, friendships …. The list is endless!
How can a Parent Support Adviser help?
As your Parent Support Adviser I will be available to inform and support you, helping you to engage further with your children’s learning and well-being. My biggest aim is to help you help your children! This role provides me with time for contact with you, whatever your issues may be.
When am I available?
I am available for parent meetings Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays however will endeavour to be as flexible as possible.
For those of you who have not already met me I am a parent to 2 very grown up children/ young adults and understand being a parent can sometimes be tough!! Sometimes we all need advice, support and someone to listen and see things from a parents perspective.
I started here at Elburton over 12 years ago and my role has evolved and changed with the needs of our pupils and our families however the underpinning ethos of my role remains the same to help families and school community grow together no matter how much the environment changes around us.
Groups that are already running at Elburton Primary School include:
- Military Kids Club
- Young Carers
- Resilience boost groups
- Parent Coffee Mornings
