Year 1 'Getting to Know You' Virtual Meeting Video
Welcome to Year 1!
On our year group page, we have important dates for your diaries, information about the Year 1 curriculum and useful resources for both parents and children. We hope that you will enjoy looking through some of our photos too.
We regularly update our twitter page with photos of what we are getting up to in Year 1. If you are not already 'following' us, please do get involved.
Thank you for your continued support.
Miss Greatrex and Mrs Baldwin
If you would like to get in contact with us, please either send us a message on Tapestry or send an email via firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com. We will do our best to get back to you as soon as possible.
We are unable to change books daily as they are being quarantined for 72 hours before being reissued. The children will receive 1 Read, Write, Inc book along with a banded book on a Monday. The RWI book is to be read 2-3 times within the week and the banded book is an additional book to read if you have time. We will collect books and reading diaries on a Friday to check and reissue books. New books will be sent back home each Monday. If you would like to continue reading over the weekend, please use the Oxford Owl website and the following log in details to access a variety of online texts, including RWI texts.
Thursday PM - Outdoor Games
Please can you ensure that your child comes to school dressed in a named P.E kit on this day. This includes a white t-shirt, white shorts, spare socks, trainers and warm jumper/tracksuit trousers (navy blue or black) for cold weather.
Thank you for your support.
Homework in Year 1
For the first half term, the Year 1 children will be asked to read their RWI book 2-3 times a week. There will be an additional book sent home for those who have time but the RWI book is a priority. Please read with your child as often as possible and also spend time allowing children to enjoy a story time with you. This is a great way for the children to develop reading for pleasure, comprehension skills and to listen to fluent and expressive reading.
In the near future, the children will also take home account details for Numbots and School Jam. These are both websites/apps that provide the children with some great practical maths opportunities at home.
After half term, the children will receive a homework grid. This will contain lots of different activities that will fit in to your every day family life. This will give the children an opportunity to choose tasks that interest them. Photos or videos of these tasks can be shared on Tapestry. Further details will be sent out nearer the time.
