Home Learning in Year 3
Reading takes priority over all home learning. We expect the children to read aloud to you on a daily basis for 10-15 minutes to:
- develop their fluency.
- give you the opportunity to explain the meaning of new words.
- to check their understanding by asking them questions.
We strongly recommend that you read to your child as much as possible preferably a more challenging book that they would not necessarily choose or be able to read themselves to.
At the start of each new term, the children will come home with a grid showing a broad range of tasks covering a number of subjects. The children will choose six home learning tasks to complete before the end of that term.
We will continue to introduce a new spelling rule every Friday in school and practice it throughout the following week. This term we will be going paperless and setting all spellings through Spelling Shed.
TT Rockstars and My Maths will be set on alternate weeks.

Meet The Year Group!
3NG performed amazingly for their class assembly. It was based on their English and topic learning, and included details from Great Kapok Tree book, and was filled with lots of facts and information about rainforests, the affects of deforestation on animals and the planet, and 'dirty' palm oil and orangtuans.
Class 3AB enjoyed performing their 'The Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages' assembly to the school and their grownups.
Mrs Baldwin is really proud of all of them and hopes that you enjoyed the show if you managed to join us on Friday afternoon.
Look at some of the things we have done and have learnt!
