This Week At ElburtonÂ
Rocksteady Music Assembly
We were delighted to welcome Rocksteady to our assembly, and what a fantastic experience it was!
The children thoroughly enjoyed the live music performance and learning about what it takes to be part of a band. A number of pupils, along with members of staff, even had the opportunity to form their own bands and perform in front of the whole school, much to everyone's delight.
We are excited to be able to offer children the chance to take part in weekly Rocksteady band sessions at school. These sessions provide a wonderful opportunity for pupils to develop their musical skills, build confidence, and strengthen their teamwork through the enjoyment of making music together.
Balanceability
Balanceability has been a fantastic success in Reception this week!
The children have thoroughly enjoyed learning about the different parts of a bicycle and helmet, while developing their understanding of how to stay safe when riding. Throughout the week, they have practised essential skills such as mounting and dismounting safely, steadily building their confidence, balance and control.
It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm grow each day, alongside the impressive progress they have made. The children have embraced every challenge with determination and excitement, and it has been a pleasure to watch their skills and confidence flourish as the week has progressed.
Writing in Year One
In English, the children have been writing formal, well-structured sentences about The Gruffalo. They have focused on identifying subjects and verbs, using ambitious vocabulary, and presenting their ideas clearly and accurately.
Their learning continued in Wild Tribe, where they enjoyed listening to The Gruffalo’s Granny before getting creative and making their own Gruffalo Granny Stew. This exciting hands-on activity brought the story to life, while also providing a fantastic opportunity to develop imagination, teamwork and communication skills. The children thoroughly enjoyed working together and engaging with the story in a fun and memorable way.
