Welcome to Pre School

Seedlings and Acorns Classes

Welcome to Elburton Preschool, where every child is valued, nurtured and encouraged to flourish. We provide a happy, caring and stimulating environment where children feel safe, confident and excited to learn. Through play, meaningful experiences and real-life opportunities, we develop curious, independent learners and effective communicators, building strong foundations for their future. We take time to listen to children, follow their ideas and interests, and create those special teachable moments that make learning meaningful. We work closely with our Reception team in the primary school to ensure a strong, supportive and seamless transition into school. Above all, we want every child to feel a strong sense of belonging, develop a love of learning and leave preschool happy, confident and ready for their next adventure.

What does Pre School look like for my child?

At Elburton Preschool, we want your child to be excited about learning, curious about the world and confident in themselves. The children will become secure in their daily routine and will gain in confidence throughout the many different experiences provided for your child to learn and thrive.

Long Term Overview

Our curriculum is rich in stories, songs, rhymes and conversations, helping children develop a love of language and build a growing vocabulary. We carefully introduce new words and concepts, giving children lots of opportunities to practise and use them through play. We place a strong focus on the Prime Areas of learning – Communication and Language, Physical Development, and Personal, Social and Emotional Development. By following children’s interests and building learning into everyday experiences, we help every child develop the skills, confidence and independence they need for Reception and beyond.

What are we learning this term?

Documenting Learning in Pre School

In the EYFS we document the children's learning using an online FloorBook. Take a look at some of the learning that happened last year.
