On our year group page, we have important dates for your diaries, information about the Year 1 curriculum and useful resources for both parents and children.
We regularly update our Facebook page with photos of what we are getting up to in Year 1. If you are not already 'following' us, please do get involved.

We are unable to change books daily as they are being quarantined for 72 hours before being reissued. The children will receive 1 Read, Write, Inc banded book on a Monday. The RWI book is to be read 2-3 times within the week. We will collect books and reading diaries on a Friday to check and reissue books. New books will be sent back home each Monday. If you would like to continue reading over the weekend, please use the Oxford Owl website and the following log in details to access a variety of online texts, including RWI texts.
Tuesday PM - Outdoor Games
Wednesday PM - Indoor PE
Please can you ensure that your child comes to school with a named PE kit on the above days. This includes the following:
* A white t-shirt
* Navy blue shorts
*Navy blue tracksuit (for winter)
*Sports trainers that provide full support (no fashion brands please)
*An 'Elburton' school hoodie can also be purchased from the PTA if your child would like to wear one during the colder months.
A simple named bag with a draw string is a convenient way of carrying and storing PE clothing. For safety reasons earrings must be removed or taped over during PE. Hair must be tied up for PE.
Thank you for your support.
Homework in Year 1
The Year 1 children will be asked to read their RWI book 2-3 times a week. Please read with your child as often as possible and also spend time allowing children to enjoy a story time with you. This is a great way for the children to develop reading for pleasure, comprehension skills and to listen to fluent and expressive reading.
The children will also receive a homework grid for this term. This will contain lots of different activities that will fit into your every day family life. This will give the children an opportunity to choose tasks that interest them. Photos or videos of these tasks can be shared on Tapestry. Further details can be found on the homework grid.
