    Welcome to Elburton Primary School

As the headteacher, I am privileged to lead a school dedicated to fostering the best in everyone. My role involves overseeing strategic decisions and ensuring that our school community works together harmoniously to provide an exceptional educational experience for all our students.

Supporting me in this endeavour are two assistant headteachers, Lisa Birnie and Ros Light, along with our outstanding teaching and administrative teams. Each day, our staff go above and beyond to deliver the highest quality education, nurturing the potential in every child.

At Elburton Primary, we are fortunate to offer a wealth of resources and experiences that extend beyond the classroom. Our focus is on building character, delivering a rigorous curriculum, maintaining the highest standards of behaviour, and providing opportunities for our students to build cultural capital and explore the world beyond the school gates.

From our youngest learners in the nursery, with its own exciting outdoor play area, to those preparing to transition beyond Key Stage 2, we provide superb learning environments both indoors and outdoors. Our facilities include modern classrooms, outdoor learning spaces, playgrounds, a sports field, an extensive library, and a swimming pool.

Throughout their time at Elburton, our goals are clear:

    • Ensuring every child enjoys reaching their potential
    • Supporting the development of the whole child
    • Raising aspirations
    • Deepening children's understanding of the world and their role in it
    • Preparing children for their next stage of learning

Our curriculum is meticulously designed to build core skills and foundational knowledge in oracy, reading, writing, and mathematics. Through engaging and meaningful learning units, aligned with our ethos and values, we aim to provide outcomes tailored to each child's needs. Respect is a cornerstone of our school culture, fostering a safe and kind environment where everyone can thrive. We strive to develop confident, collaborative, and innovative learners, ready to face the challenges of the future.

Elburton Primary School has been  a cornerstone of the local community for over 50 years. We believe in strong collaboration with parents and the wider community, empowering our pupils to take ownership of their learning journey. In September 2023 we joined the Learning Academies Trust and are delighted to be part of this 18 school collaborative trust.

We invite you to visit us and experience the warm, inviting atmosphere of our school  and we would be delighted to meet you and show you around. Please contact our school office to arrange a tour. Thank you for considering Elburton Primary School, where a vibrant and supportive educational environment awaits your child.

    Best wishes,

    Keith Smithers
    Headteacher
